blue rope serpentine bench


british designer tom price's blue rope serpentine bench is created by seamlessly
weaving together five separate blue cable rope chairs which price previously developed.
the bench and chair are part of price's ongoing series which uses commonplace plastic
products to create sculptural seating.





the chairs are created by heating and pressing a seat-shaped former into a ball of
polypropylene rope, which begins to liquify as it comes into come in contact with the
heated former. as it cools, it sets in the shape of a seat, contrasting form and texture.
