levi's water-conserving 'green' jeans

levi's is producing a new line of jeans that are manufactured with a significant reduction in water usage.
the average pair of jeans uses 42 liters in the finish process, but this new line is meant to reduce
water consumption by an average of 28 percent, and up to as much as 96 percent for some new products
within the collection.

some of the ways in which levi's has reduced water consumption in the finishing process are:
-reducing the number of washing machine cycles by combining multiple wet cycle processes into a single wet process
-incorporate ozone processing into the garment washing
-removing the water from the stone wash

the first waterless products (including classics such as 501s, 511s, 514s) are set to hit stores in january 2011,
while the spring 2011 products will contain more than 1.5 million pairs of jeans using the waterless method,
saving more than 16 million gallons of water.

maybe make them stain-proof, stinky-proof etc. and we will consume even less water...
