october 15, 2010 – may 1, 2011

opening in mid-october, ‘l’ornament jamais’ is the latest exhibition by swiss designer philippe cramer held at the
prestigious museum of art and history in geneva. cramer was given the task of reinventing the museum’s 18th
century salon cartigny with a carte blanche brief. the room is decorated with intricate wood carving by jean jaquet
serving as a backdrop for cramer’s newly developed suite of furniture and décor. the furniture is based on period
archetypes that have been reinterpreted using whitewashed wood with gold accents that draw attention to the
piece’s construction. many of cramer’s work is also on show in the parallel group show ‘decor, design et industrie’.

Love the cabinet. Best thing I've seen in ages.

Gilding the otherwise ordinary details, is such an interesting visual flourish ... yes, design pedants - I said flourish.
