amir alizade: tèmpo

'tèmpo' is a ceramic cup in two parts

'tèmpo' by milan-based designer amir alizade, is a ceramic cup made in two parts.
a bottom component contains a mechanical timer that reminds you when your infused beverage,
such as tea, is ready. the timer can be set from one to seven minutes depending on the time
that is needed to prepare the drink. the vessel of the cup sits on top of the timer.

'tèmpo' was first shortlisted
in the designboom competition, 'the intelligent hand' and will be exhibited next as part of
the designboom stockholm mart from february 8th - 12th, 2011.

hi, I am not able to follow this...does this product heat or boil the water? Is it just that the tea bag is to be immersed in the water for a certain time for a certain strength of tea? If that is the case, do we need something like this?
