'what is a dandy? what does he look like? some say a dandy is a particular person.
others say a dandy is a way of life
.' swedish design group form us with love have developed
the architecture for an exhibition on the 'dandy' that is currently being held at the
nordiska museet, stockholm. they have designed the displays in such a way so that they
dissect the dandy into pieces, as a means of exposing all the details that make him what he is.

the 'dandy' exhibition will be on show until may 2011.

each of the display pieces are composed of dismembered mannequins
in combination / fused with MDF boxes. these components are lacquered in slate grey,
as a means of giving the illusion that a stonecutter has been working on sculptures.

the boxes represent large blocks of stone, in which finished body parts such as a hand,
legs, torso, head etc. - elements of the mannequins - extend from the various stands
making them essential for the actual pieces on show - carrying case, blazer, vest, shoes.

Being a dandy is a state of mind. This is just a bunch of expensive clothes. Pointless.
