paris-based designer patrick norguet in collaboration with french furniture manufacturer alki,
has designed 'makil', a stackable oak chair that showcases material, technique and structure.
the chair will be exhibited for the first time at maison et objet 2011.
using the finest bending techniques and craftsmanship, the chair is composed of a series
of winding and intersecting forms. the combined use of solid oak and oak plywood
adds an additional layer of interest to the object.

a singular piece of wire mesh is delicately folded and creased to create the chairs origami-like form.

a simple wire basket is supported by an aluminum belt which wraps around seat and accentuates the woven form.

the stackable chair can be used indoors or outdoors. its seat and back are made in polypropylene, while the legs are executed in pressure die-cast aluminium, finished with a weatherproof epoxy lacquer.

the delicate design draws its organic and subtly curved form from that of old european terrace or balcony wrought-iron fences.
