reminiscent of old glass bottles and bowls, german designer hanna krüger‘s ‘vaiss.eau’ lights try to re-imagine the function of common, everyday object. the mouth-blown, double-walled transparent glass pendants exemplify the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and the design of contemporary objects. the collection of pendant lights are on exhibit as part of [D3] design talents at imm cologne 2011.

the overall form and inward curvature mimic the contours of vintage glass bottles. a frosted glass bow serves as an entry for the illuminate while also acting as a reflector, emitting light from the center of the body to produce a luminous vessel that reflects the colors of its blown glass shade. a contrasting cable enters the hollow glass object, filing the body with a strong, linear element to the otherwise fluid design. more or less cable will curl into the inner space depending on the height at which the pendant is hung.
