'traffic jam' by vukašin vukobratović
serbian designer vukašin vukobratović brings street signs indoors with his 'traffic jam' clothing hanger.
the furniture object not only features hooks in which to hang jackets and other clothing items,
but stays true to its original form and function of displaying signage which could be particularly useful
in schools, hotels, restaurants, offices and other public spaces. the interchangeable signage plates
can be personalized and adjusted to different settings, providing easy orientation as well as some
organization in public environments.

the signs can be customized according to one's needs
'traffic jam' is one of 11 winning projects of the 2011 'young balkan designers' competition.
the jury run by munich-based designer konstantin grcic, selected the projects from 391 entries
submitted by young designers and architects. the winners, who represent five different countries:
bosnia and herzegovina, bulgaria, croatia, greece and serbia, will represent the region's
creative potential at milan design week in april 2011, and then in may at the mikser festival in belgrade.

why this is bullshit design:
what office actually needs this ... non ... what office has space to place such a big sign .... what office doesn't already have a plak in the main lobby and what office doesnt find the importance of having someone great guest and show them around ..and if the office workers need a sign to remember where to go &&&& have we forgotten or ever seen how offices look????? unless ur working at google this would stand out like a smelly lunch left behind in the communal fridge... well then your just employing brainless ppl.
ok maybe some offices would want this .... BUT lets not forget that the way we design the function of an object doesnt mean that people will use it in the desired way..... the first thing one would do is trow their jacket not on the small hook but on the big sign and things would start to get tangled between the hooks and signs...it will truly be a traffic jam..why is it even named traffic jam.... what has this got to do with signs in the home or the office or with coats ..wow so radical.... .. i can only see this being good in a senior home where you need XXL signs and for people who have developed memory problems and they cant remember where the loo is. but it would not fit there either since its to young looking and how about the fact that there is so much material being used but not needed . is this what young designers should be creating? well never the less im excited to see this at the fair..hopefully it will be made better then it's rendering .....
