'pattern' chair and table

outdoor furniture producer emu's latest product is called 'pattern',
a family of chairs and tables designed by arik levy.

'pattern' table and chair set, on exhibition at maison et objet
the chair shell is made in pressed and molded sheet metal, using the deep drawing process,
starting with a single sheet of steel with mechanical properties specially designed to obtain
the desired shapes.

the legs are made by the same technique, and are then joined to the structure
using advanced welding process (TIG). the final effect is that of a monolithic steel structure.
the hexagonal pattern decorates the seat and backs of the chairs, and is repeated on the table tops as well.

the design features a cylindrical vessel whereby a long neck projects outwards, curving over the open base container, the lighting element streaming downwards from it into the well.

versatile yet simple, the handmade paper and metalwork lamps function both as surface and hanging objects that can be used indoors or out.

a singular piece of wire mesh is delicately folded and creased to create the chairs origami-like form.

the collection of metal objects look to introduce the normally concealed functional carcass as the furniture's main aesthetic.

in the japanese edo era, canisters were made from tin were a commonplace means of storage for tea. it was kiyosuke who first designed the tin tea caddy and made it into a commercially available item.
