copenhagen based designer christina liljenberg halstrøm has created a series of new products that were recently on show as part of ‘greenhouse’ at the stockholm furniture fair 2011. the objects, which range in scale and function, are united by their use of natural, organic materials and eclectic aesthetic that focuses on an attention to detail.

‘gym de luxe’ is a system of walnut hooks and organic wool pillows that can be used in combination to create a piece of furniture. the cone shaped cushions range in size, providing a womb-like environment that hugs the body of the user. a vegetable leather mat sits beneath the hanging pillows, adding an additional layer of comfort.

‘beddo’, which literally translates to bed in japanese, is a sculptural sofa that encourages interaction and changeability. a series of woolen duvets can be used in a variety of ways, acting as both the backrest and a blanket-like object for the piece. the low to the ground design, which marries the danish and japanese aesthetics, is constructed using organic wool and wood. freestanding wood frames compliment the system, which can be used to hang additional layers of upholstery or magazines.

expanding further on the use of duvets is ‘cover up’, a lounge chair that is created by draping a small wool pillow over an open wooden frame.

‘string’, a reinterpreted coat rack is created by randomly winding a black elastic cord around an oak frame. the organic web of interwoven strings secure clothes and bags in place, acting as a sculptural unit when not in use.
