knudsen & hindenes: nord for VAD

petter knudsen and steinar hindenes of norway based studio,
knudsen & hindenes have designed 'nord' in collaboration
with VAD, a series that includes a solid pine lounge chair and
accompanying side table.

the pieces, which were most recently on show as part of 'norway now'
at the 2011 stockholm furniture fair, use solid pine and felt - materials
that are representative of norwegian heritage - in a contemporary context.

the chair consists of two modest wood frames that flank a molded felt
seat and backrest. the pine, treated as floorboards traditionally were with
caustic soda, water and sand, will beautify and mature with age and use.

'norway now', curated by stefan nilsson, creative director at trendgruppen
and presented inside the clarion hotel sign is an initiative by the embassy
of norway in stockholm, together with innovation norway, clarion hotel sign
and trendgruppen, representing contemporary norwegian design.
