although no images of heatherwick's plan have yet been released, the cauldron is expected to sit
to the north of the main stadium, and be visible from within the arena. the architect,
who is currently working on the new routemaster bus for transport for london,
recently created britain's dandelion pavilion at the shanghai world expo.

heatherwick's most recent large scale project was the british dandelion pavilion at the 2010 shanghai world expo, covered by designboom

announced at the same time is the choice of choreographer kim gavin as artistic director of the closing ceremonies.
gavin, who plans to use his experience organizing the elaborate 'take that' circus concerts to create a samba-style
olympic celebration, will be joined in his project by costume designer es devlin, the artist behind lady gaga's monster tour.

urrrrrrr.......technically not an architect, a designer.
pedro   02.21.11
still, as a designer he creates better architecture than most architects...
Isabel   02.21.11
perhaps not a designer , not an architect .. a visionary ?
biff Bang   02.21.11
it seems that you all miss the point, neither an architect, designer or visionary... his studio does employ architects and a plethora of other specialists.
UN   02.22.11
Well he might employ architects but his "objects" still fall apart...!
jojo   02.22.11
why not?

i always wonder if that hidden British flag in black and white from the elevation of the British pavilion is deliberate or not. It is too amazing if thats his intention.
Norm   02.23.11
