‘cube’ outdoor bench and lighting

‘cube’ by seoul-based designer kim hyunjoo is a combined outdoor bench and lighting object. made out of granite, the cubic form with a cut out corner is meant for use in public parks and squares.

only partially anchored into the ground, the asymmetrical design is given strength through its material which seamlessly blends into the urban environment.

intended as a bench for one person, the cubes measure 400 x 400 x 450mm, making them ideal for multiple groupings that encourage interaction between multiple parties.

an LED light source set into the voided corner highlights the irregularly shaped stool while providing light and way-finding to public spaces.
