werner aisslinger: yill for younicos

'yill' designed by werner aisslinger for younicos
'yill', designed by werner aisslinger for berlin-based renewable energy company younicos, is a cordless energy storage unit.
the wheelable device is designed to facilitate the creation of workspace even in poorly suited environments,
eliminating the need for floor socket banks or extension cords and powerstrips.
providing up to 300 watts of electricity, the device's lithium titanium batteries can store electricity
from solar cells and other renewably generated sources, or be charged via standard electrical outlet.

back and side views
during milan design week 2011 in april, 'yill' will be on exhibition on via savona, transforming a garage into younicos's temporary office.
younicos notes that the 'design DNA' that aisslinger developed for the units will continue to characterize future younicos product releases.

Why wouldn't it have a magneto/capacitor design element in it similar to wind up emergency radioes or flashlights? As it rolls, it generates a small amount of power direct to its battery from being pulled about.

With the wheel design, I bet you can't even bring this to any "poorly suited environments". Where exactly is "poorly suited environments"?

love it!!! for a computer repair technician and needs power on the go

this will be one of those things looked back on by future generations and laughed at. but still nice.

300 watts of electricity?
This has no meaning, watts are a measure of power, not energy. Energy is measured in Ah (Ampère * hours).
So, assuming 300 W is the power peak that this stuff can handle, how much is the total energy storage?

Good thing this 'poorly suited environment' has an elevator and ramps to lug this enormous battery around. It's so big why not make it a stool as well?
Ryan 03.02.11
at the end it risks to be useless..
