'japan is now facing a serious situation after the effects of the earthquake and tusnami hit on march 11th, 2011.
however, I strongly believe in our power to overcome this hardship.

nature is beautiful, yet we find a very thin line between its beauty and ugliness. its beauty uplifts our emotion
and resonates in our hearts, yet nature sometimes shows its threatening expression. in japan, we have witnessed
nature's threats with our own eyes, and we have been reminded by the difficulties as well as the importance
of living with nature. I would like to think deeply about nature and continue pursuing the creation that seeks
and expresses its elements of beauty
.' - tokujin yoshioka

with his deepest hopes for the future of japan, tokujin yoshioka presents 'twilight' during milan design week 2011.
the exhibition is a continuation of his ongoing collaboration with italian furniture manufacturer moroso.
displayed at the moroso showroom, yoshioka floods an infinitive amount of light rays into a white space,
creating a scene as if the light is cutting through a cloud with crepuscular rays - a phenomenon known as angel's ladder -
pouring into the ground, bringing visitors into a celestial experience as if embraced by the natural world.
this heavenly light provides the profile for yoshioka's collection of 'moon' chairs. the light reflects onto the surface of the seats,
revealing the beauty of the textures which exist in various white materials.
