dynamic furniture that fills the exact role needed at any given time.
illinois based designers allison newmeyer and stewart hicks, with help from amy kuo,
have combined six commonly used table situations into a multiple configuration panel
based system that folds into forms as one needs. the 'conFIGURE ONEfold' is made
from birch hollow core doors that have been cut up and stitched together with hinges
and lined with felt for a soft accent and sound dampening.

configuration one places the piece as a folded panel on the wall, out of the way
exposing only its natural wood panels, possibly for use as signage. unfold and unlatch
and there is an upright set of panels at 90 degrees to display flat items and ephemera.
in configuration three, it is folded over itself and creates an information kiosk with both
upright and flat surfaces. rotate the back wall out and there is a reception desk with the
attendant surrounded in felt for a more comfortable desk experience. a second desk can
be made by unwrapping the remaining wall into an offset facing desk arrangement.
or folded over itself yet again for a display table ready for hor d'oeurevs
at the next gallery opening.
