benjamin hubert: paddle

'paddle', designed by benjamin hubert for fabbian

'paddle', by british designer benjamin hubert for italian lighting manufacturers fabbian,
is an LED task light designed to provide optimal lighting in a range of working environments.

hinged on a rotating ball at both the base and the connecting arm, the lamps feature multiple axes of movement,
so that the angle and height of both the stand and the head are independently adjustable. the pressed aluminum paddle head
and bright lights of the LED are contrasted with a body composed of either ash timber of texture lacquered aluminum.

modeled after the movement of a canoe blade through water, the collection tempers its utilitarian, architectural aesthetic
with the more fluid, adaptable nature of its intended use.

Interesting lamp with a good starting point, but the design language clashes between the shade and the structure leaving an awkward esthetic (rustic vs tech desk lamp). The design probably got over cooked whilst trying to find the balance.

hi!!

The consept used is really interesting.
I think that project has huge potential.
I suggest you this enterprise [url=http://www.delightfull.eu/]. They'll be in Tortona design week in Milão.
Hope i will see good project full of inspiration like yours.

This could have been quite nice but have to agree with Deftone.....something not quite right with the visual balance!

A good looking lamp, slightly unusual aesthetic, but i think thats a positive rather than a negative as highlighted by the other two.

This lamp reminds me a bit the winner of braunprize in 2009.
