fernando ponce: electricity tricycle

profile view

buenos-aires based industrial designer fernando ponce's electric bi-directional tricycle.
the design is based on the frame of a classic tricycle with the middle frame replaced with a sandwich
of wood panels hiding the frame and holding batteries. the bike is powered by a front wheel
internal hub motor and controlled with a handle grip.

Here we see why the world needs designers and engineers. Really weird construction and design. Sorry but there are so many details that visualy and technicly just don't work out.

for example?
question to Gert   04.10.11
1. The volumina of the body makes the vehicle look clumsy and heavy.
2. The use of wood makes the vehicle heavy. Electric vehicles should be light. ( don’t argument with using wood because its environmental friendly)
3. The tires are not properly fixed to the rear axes / under pressure it will very likely break.

I could write more, but the designer should want it.

...as a prototype it works for me... must see the concept as the main subject, aesthetics and technical/fabrication improovements will come with the time (and money or support), that's why help, comments and opinions are wellcome!!. Great job Fernando!!

Nice look, the wood adds a great retro touch, seems actually pretty practical and cost-efficient (plus low embodied energy) don't know about the bolt ends- seems risky. all in all a real eye-catcher- I'd roll it.

Thank you so much

AWESOME work!
I love the retro look of the bike. Most electric models appear to be way to futuristic for my taste.
Keep it up!
