‘5 forks on the subject of critical design’ made from chrome steel

industrial design group postfossil presents its new collection of home furnishings ‘trattoria utopia’ with the intent of bringing up the conversation of resource scarcity into the everyday lives of consumers. addressing the topic of meat eating, the forms of the cutlery set ‘juri’ create a challenge by containing one fifth zinc and being completely unpolished. while the set ‘5 forks on the subject of critical design’ with its rounded ends take the idea to the extreme making it completely impossible to skewer meat.

‘5 forks on the subject of slow food’ reduces the size of the fork in a study to actually slow down consumption. in addition to the sustaining food supplies and questioning food traditions, the step toward spending more time eating and less time chewing could also influence one’s enjoyment of food and increase health. the connection between the functional design of utensils and the preparation of food is varied across cultures, and it is the vision of postfossil to help europeans understand and discuss the benefits of a low-meat diet. the whole collection is on display at milan design week 2011.
