presented at salone del mobile 2011 is 'biknit', patricia urquiola's latest
design for contemporary brand, moroso. available in a chair and chaise lounge
version, the collection features an enlarged stocking-stitch design which acts as
both the primary surface and the structure.

contrasting materials, forms and textures comprise the pieces, which are suitable
for both indoor and outdoor use. a continuous and harmonious cycle of curving
and repetitious stockings intertwine to create a decorative and load-bearing seat,
which covers the steel frame. a bold and angular wooden base sits below the seat
and wraps upwards onto the backrest, appearing to seamlessly balance the organic
body.

XY come on, although I do see some resemblance I don't think Urquiola is a doing a knock off; besides, the chair that you link has removable cushion-like elements and Urquiola's chairs would not work if the woven element is removed, in fact, that's not even intended. Good job Patricia

Great concept and texture and looks very comfy. Im not happy with the base and also that after a while the "tubes" will compress against the bars and the sitter will feel the bars greatly and the comfort will be gone. The "tube cushion" portions inbetween the bars, representing 90% of the structure wont even be contacting the sitter and it will become hated in the house. If the horizontal bars were springs instead, the sitter would be contacting the entire cushion and im guess this will greatly prolong the comfort and enjoyment of the chair.

The wooden base combination does not work for me at all. Like a rasta-man on ice skates.

Great idea for a woven look.
Wooden base looks too heavy for me - perhaps a lighter metal tubing base may work better, so the chair appears to float.

You are comparing this item to two very different products. Yes, they both implement woven materials and metal frames but in my opinion that is the extent of their similarities.
This is nicely designed and well-executed. Great job!
