presented at milan design week 2011, is the 'tagliatelle' chair by british designer jasper morrison for
italian furniture company alias. the design is a reinterpretation of alias's iconic spaghetti chair 30 years
after its initial introduction. a highly innovative follow-up, 'tagliatelle' continues the perfect
synthesis of technology and form incorporated in the spaghetti chair, extracting and reformulating
each and every element. the structure is stove-enameled tubular steel, with the back and seat rests consisting
of interwoven elastic strips, available in a single color or a combination of shades. the resulting form is zen inspired;
of studied yet simple elegance. a harmonious and balanced composition derived from meticulous attention to each detail;
the calculations for the diameter of the tubular steel, the structure’s interlocking system, the invisible system used
to secure the elastic strips.

Looks more like pappardelle to me...

i love it
Leili   04.15.11
This is totally brilliant. Chairs are probably the most resource intensive object that we need a large multiple of for every individual in a developed society. This chair is simple, light and durable. Its highest-wear area is durable, ecological and easy to obtain. This chair could probably have a service life of 200 years. This is brilliant institutional design. This is brilliant green design.

jim, your making a big deal over nothing. those legs look super wobbly, and there is nothing innovative going on here. this strikes me as design for design sake. /snore

simple and clean but nothing special...
dancing kitty   04.16.11
the legs are wobbly Kanye? you should learn something about materials, especially steel tubing. You should also learn about BIFMA standards.

To understand the work you should read his essay called "super normal."

objectively speaking its an extremely efficient use of materials.
learn something about furniture before you talk   04.18.11
Wouldn't exactly call this a good example of "super normal"...
Think before you speak   04.18.11
Its a nice, understated, unpretentious chair. Nothing really new, or innovative, but not bad either.
