ronan + erwan bouroullec: folio for established and sons

'folio', designed by ronan and erwan bouroullec for established and sons

'folio', created by by french designers ronan and erwan bouroullec for established and sons,
seeks an innovative solution that combines shelving and cabinetry in a flexible-use piece.
designed in differently configured units, 'folio' is composed of oak, with two sheaths of fabric
suspended from an aluminum rack on the underside of the top shelf. the fabric panels can be slid
along the length of the piece, to easily hide or expose certain of the objects being stored,
even as they lend a sculptural element and contrast of colour and texture to the design.

the fabric panels can slide to completely or partially cover the shelving

easy and nice

ridiculous. it's like a students' project for a medium design course. i expected something more from their GREAT talent

In my opinion it is a very warm, human piece!
Not at all student-like, because students today wish to be more
visible, radical, etc.
I agree that it seems to be not really finished yet.
I guess it is a prototype and will have a follow-up production, where small details will be resolved in a more industrial manner. Overall evaluation: VERY NICE.

I'm not sure what use this project has in peoples lives ?

These two dust collecting felt curtains, just to hide some objects or books.
Greta   04.19.11
i agree with Katarina.
i like their work, simple easy but more detail in usage
