‘eclipsion wall clock’ by jay jiwoong baek for cauca 27 x 27 x 3 cm

designed by jay jiwoong baek and produced by newly opened korean design studio cauca, ‘eclipsion wall clock’ is designed around the imagery of a solar eclipse. composed of steel and aluminum over black ABS plastic, the analog clock’s hands are nearly invisible other than the circles at their tips. the appearance of a solar eclipse is generated several times a day, as the circles move into the proper relationship among one another.

‘eclipsion’ is produced in black and white, although details have not yet been released regarding its availability.

design time competition currently, designboom in collaboration with BREIL is promoting an international competition asking participants to design the next stainless steel watch in the BREIL collection. participation is open to applicants from every country in the world, to professionals, students, and design-enthusiasts.
