mr smith studio: cream chair for calligaris
'cream chair' by mr smith studio for calligaris
milan-based mr smith studio seems to look towards the kitchen for their starting point as seen with their previous design the 'basil' chair
that draws its form from the essential italian herb. now they have developed the 'cream chair' also for italian manufacturer calligaris
that references the popular summer treat, creamsicles. the design aims to build a bridge between wood and plastics with the
whole project playing around the connections between the chosen materials. the seat and back of the chair are composed of restilon,
a thermoplastic polymer composed of 35 percent recycled materials, selected for its structural and superficial properties,
mounted onto a wooden structure.
