viktor alexander kolbig + tojan bieber: turn in chair

the 'turn in chair' by viktor alexander kolbig and tojan bieber

the 'turn in chair' has been conceived by german designers viktor alexander kolbig and tojan bieber.
the furniture object approaches the idea of a 'folding chair' in a new way.

'we wanted to build a chair that could take different shapes - jumping from a classic timeless chair that reminds us of the ones
developed by the bauhaus, and also be transformed into an endless number of different positions,
thus seeming to be a more abstract work of art, rather than a functional pieces of furniture. after playing around with the form
and becoming familiar with all its facets, the user will find out that the chair also has a second face - a softer and more
brilliantly colored one. in this way, with the flexible and functional form, all a user has to do is literally turn their chair 'inside out'
depending on their mood.'

diagonal parts are lined-up with one another to form the seat and back.
the ability to transform the piece from a hard to soft surface is done via hinged components that run along each individual piece,
providing flexibility and movement of the parts. the chair is still in its conceptual prototype phase.

Haters be hatin'. Of course this is interesting for the implications it may have for more practical design.
