hiroomi tahara: mesh lamp

'mesh lamp' by hiroomi tahara

based in milan, japanese designer hiroomi tahara has created a 'mesh lamp.'
using a lightweight mesh for its shade, this lamp's simple materials and resulting structure creates a straightforward lighting solution.
since heat from the light bulb can be released from material's holes, a mesh shade can cover not only the sides but also the top of the lamp.
this slight change allows the shade to be placed easily on top of a simpler metal structure and also creates a more even distribution of light.

the amount of light diffused can be controlled by changes in the shade's design.
'long' and 'short' shades can be produced easily, and a mesh with bigger holes can provide a brighter lighting solution.
the lamp's contrasting white and black colors additionally reflect different qualities of light.
