the ‘nivis‘ bike, conceptualized by german industrial designers rainer lahm and lisa gehrung, offers an all-purpose alternative to conventional bicycles for use in snowy weather.

the basic design concept for a snow-ready craft is not unusual, involving the substitution of a bicycle’s front wheel for a ski and its back wheel for a skid chain, but unlike most designs, which retain a snowmobile-like feel, ‘nivis’ is modeled upon a conventional bicycle. the rear tract enables the device to be used for flat terrain and inclines as well as downhill, while ensuring a good surface grip. like an ordinary bike, ‘nivis’ is powered by pedaling.
