sebastian pablo salanova: r4 people - renault 4 ever shortlisted entry

'r4 people', renault redesign concept by sebastian pablo salanova
'r4 people' is a concept car by argentinan designer sebastian pablo salanova which aims to integrate the essence of renault's original design
with sustainable economy. with the premise of creating an inclusive and accessible vehicle, this proposal includes both hatchback and van
styles that can be used in diverse contexts. the concept is one of fifty projects shortlisted from over 3200 submissions from 92 countries in
designboom's recent RENAULT 4 EVER competition, which asked participants to redesign the renault 4 with an eye towards historical
lineage, contemporary aesthetics, and sustainable design.
the look of 'r4 people' maintains the simplicity of its ancestor but addresses modern environmental concerns: to minimize long-range
ecological impact, the five-door hatchback and two-door van are both powered by engines with an electric lithium battery. seats are given
extra functionality with a hollow structure for storage, and floor coverings are created from natural fibers. plastic components are likewise
formed with recycled materials, and the body and side molding are made from aluminum. lastly, the exterior features LED front and rear lights.

the jury has still not made its final decision on the winning entry, but the results will be published to designboom at the end of july.
very low standard. looks like Tata Nano!!!
And the standart is quite low for such a competition, no offense to the creator.
Creases striking that confer robustness, wisely tempered by large curves and rounded edges, very appropriate for a multi-purpose model, as the Renault R4L.
I think that familiarity with the japanese style or toylike athmosphere, as was been wisely observed in one of the comments, reverts positively to the versatile use of the car, bringing relaxation, making it look smooth and inviting to use, even by the fact of well combining with compact models .
I believe that, as a utility, Pablo Sebastian might suggest a hybrid powertrain, which reduces the size of the batteries and give more autonomy to its well-made concept.
I agree with "What?". My first thought was Japanese design from 20 years ago.
You seems to be a very young designer but there is alot of ideas on the shape it's not just a copy of the old one.
Be careful with what you writte or think: why do an electric car would have a gearbox? why is there a transmition? its an electric car put 2 or 4 electric engines, 1 on each weel (with 4 you'll get a 4 weels drive car and it'll takes less place)
Gratz for your project and continu in that way.
Much better than the new beetle or the Mini.
This must be the best design that I've seen-
I like it even more because it hasn't just been whacked up in alias and rendered, you can actually see the design and the renault dna. Yeh okay its a little Tata, but at least its not a flippin box like the rest of the entries so far with a fancy grill.
You can tell you're a newbie or a young designer but well done, a good entry and you managed to bring the car to life too!
grettings
Most of what I have seen is a desing-something-and-pretend-it-to-be-a-4L job, while every one of these projects can be tracked back to it's origin. This is not one of those crazy car design competitions where one can design whatever he wants and this is not a graphics presentation contest neither, and I applaud the jury for having spotted good designs with not so good presentations like this.

therefore, somehow your re-design should resemble the look of the historic model and most importantly: it should look great.". It stated resemble not retro. You are also contradicting your self. Look at Jerome Garzon design, that's a crazy design. We all know that it will not work in real life, but cool design. I like it! Most will also agreed that Mark Cunningham design looks great as it own way but lost the purity of the 4L. The friends project I have seen also followed the conformity of the competition briefs. If they did not followed the briefs what is the point of competing. The bottom line is that design is subjective even when the contestants has followed what is required by the criteria.
As fo the theme, well, sure it wasn't specifically stated, but anything looking similar ends up being retro and thinking about it, renault NEEDS a retro model to remind people of old glories because they're suffering low sales of th new twingo and clio, competition in the sector is stiffer than ever and retro can do the trick: people love it, sells a lot, just look at the fiat 500 or mini, they just keep selling and are everyone's favorite.
The back seems very un-resolved, something many others failed on this competition.
Again, something lacks in presentation.
I guess they werenīt expecting so many bad coments? Donīt know, but itīs a bit strange the flow of finalists stopped coming.
Circular economy and all the rest is an addition to spice up the contest and make extra difference, but I think that's asking too much from designers; there are scientists and researchers allover the world working on this for decades and we're still realistically decades far from susteinable and radically different transportation, and when it comes, I doubt it will look like any car on the road now, it will be more bicycles and bike-like cars and smart public transportation
It is important that you keep your design(s) confidential until the results of
the competition are published.
Please explain that , Why these 7 Design have shown before contest result????
