german designer reinhard dienes has sent us images of his latest project 'punch light'. the structure of the pendant / table lamp
is made of powder-coated steel available in a range of colors. the design features a round, stainless steel diffuser that has small holes
punched through it, offering a soft, mottled lighting effect.

dienes' 'punch light', along with his 'le belge' and 'cinque' tables are on show at stilwerk limited edition design gallery in hamburg
until august 18th, 2011.

It seems like the punch pattern creates a rather busy and dimmed light not sure if this is comfortable over a longer period of time. Seeing light as valuable resource this design approach takes the opposite direction on playing with light not sure if this is the right way to go in the future. In a way it's demeaning the basic function of light.
