the 82-inch projected capacitive touchscreen by perceptive pixels is the world’s largest

celebrating its fifth anniversary at siggraph 2011, perceptive pixel demos  the world’s largest projected capacitive (pro-cap) LCD display, an 82-inch multitouch screen used to showcase the company’s ‘storyboard’ and ‘touchcast’ technology.

the screen measures just six inches in depth, using the same highly responsive pro-cap panels utilized in several smartphones throughout its 1920 x 1080 full-HD display, and capable of detecting an unlimited number of simultaneous touches from input as light as a fingernail tap.

the perceptive pixel storyboard application enables the building of quick-access, multimedia presentations. live video feeds, maps, interactive applications, images, motion graphics, and other content can be assembled and interacted with locally.

‘touchcast’ technology meanwhile involves the hosting of multitouch interactive applications into a single environment, including those originating remotely or from external servers.

the screen is on display through august 11th at the NVIDIA booth at siggraph 2011 in vancouver.
