‘cuadrado’, one of three remote control concepts by luìs porém for metronic

portugal-based designers luìs porém and federico alfonso have created a series of universal remote control concepts for metronic electronics producers.

held in both hands like a video game controller, the square format ‘cuadrado’ remote is lain out in two columns, one for the most commonly used functions of volume and channel adjustment and the other with playback and recording controls. the ‘up’ remote has a smooth curved surface, widened and weighted at its base to permit it to stand upright for easy finding and handling. ‘tatu’ features a flat top face and curved back, so that the device can be lain upside down on a table to hide its buttons.

all of the concept devices are made from ABS plastic in black and white, while ‘cuadrado’ is also produced in aluminum colouring, ‘up’ in orange, and ‘tatu’ in red.
