tile of spain at MADE expo: fluidity completed

'fluidity' by tile of spain at the MADE expo

a few days ago, designboom brought you a preview of this sculptural exhibition, which is completed now.
yesterday, tile of spain has unveiled 'fluidity: ceramics, a material for the city of the future' at MADE expo milano 2011.

the temporary pavilion uses the characteristics of ceramics to respond to current needs of a greater continuity between indoor
and outdoor spaces -- the private and the public. the structure consists of two organic shapes, wrapping around and interacting
with other surfaces. the form has a double skin, the outside being a large white tile placed in a scale pattern with the ability to
decontaminate the air, and the inside being ceramic tubes of different lengths. the installation shows how far ceramics
have come and how the functions of tiles have changed, allowing the material to be used for new applications.

to see the design process and for info about the different tile characteristics and construction details of the structure,
please read designboom's previous article here.

as a strong global leader, the tile industry of spain comprises nearly 200+ manufacturers and the tile of spain association represents
these spanish ceramic tile manufacturers (ASCER) and the industry as a whole.
'fluidity' is on view at MADE expo in milan, italy, from october 5 to 8, 2011. this exhibition wishes to draw attention to
environmental stewardship in manufacturing and the development of performance based ceramic materials and innovative solutions.
