water bottle bike lock

water bottle bike lock

'bottle lock' by küat racks

the 'bottle lock' by US-based bike accessory designers küat racks offers an innovative way to transport bicycle locks
with less hassle. the design coils a 1.5-meter long braided steel cable lock within a case that resembles a water bottle,
and thus snaps easily into common water bottle holders on bike frames. the lock is usable from this stored position:
the cable is fed from the receptacle around the bike wheels and rack.

the device also features a small lockable compartment in which keys or other objects may be securely stored.

Wouldn't it make sense to also be able to store water or a water bottle on the inside? Also make a model to resemble a 40oz. too

Locks like that (steel cable of any reasonable diameter) are of no use. It takes seconds to snap them with a wire-cutter and give you a false sense of security.

I think is a great idea, but as mstndvn said adding a real water receptacle will be better

False Security is better than No Security at all...

Nice idea very clean presentation to
LcrazyG   10.12.11
How much does it weigh? (and I agree that in most cities it would be inadequate unless paired with a U-lock)
bikeboy389   10.13.11
What's more important, water to hydrate on your commute to work or a bike to get home on? This lock draws more attention to the bike than the owner may of wanted. Nice idea but bike theives in London would make light work of that cable for sure.
JD   10.14.11
While it won't be ideal for locking a bike up all day long in a city, it would work well for someone like a bike courier/messenger or for making a quick trip to a store. If you're in and out rather quickly, this will be perfect for you.
baldkat   10.14.11
Great idea! However, the ad would look more realistic if the bike had pedals...
Don Hopings   10.15.11
Maybe the rider removes the pedals for security lol. I like this cause I have quick release wheels so it would mean having to only carry one device to chain the whole bike.

How many people chain their bike up over night. Sometimes as I've found you chain your bike with a D-lock and they just steel the parts like my ceramic pads for the disc brakes so its almost like you can't win. I think most people wouldn't leave their bike chained up over night just for the fear of the wheels getting kicked in by drunks.

this bike doesn't need pedals its magic
