tokujin yoshioka 2007 designer of the year
tokujin yoshioka's straw installation at the salone del mobile in milan
the third annual design miami will take place early this december. this year the designer of the year award will be
given to tokujin yoshioka. in addition to the award, tokujin will be having an exhibition at art basel that will feature a
new piece entitled 'rainbow chair'.
tokujin's straw installation for moroso at the 2007 salone del mobile in milan was featured on designboom. today,
moroso will unveil the follow up to this installation at their new showroom in soho, new york. this installation will
cover the entire space with tissues.
optical glass bar waterfall in tokyo
tokujin also introduced us to a project he completed in 2006 that has not yet been revealed to the public. this
optical glass bar waterfall is installed in a private gallery situated in the heart of tokyo. the building was designed by
tadao ando and features work by olafur eliasson. tokujin's bar is made from a 4.2m long optical glass material that
creates the impression of a massive block of ice.

the designer has experimented with forming new natural structures for which he can apply his crystallization process including sculpture and painting.
