beijing-based designers chadwick parker and joe huang of big i design have created the ‘PHX-1‘; a drawing-system comprised of a ruler, pen encasement, and hobby-knife contained in a bamboo carrying case. the metal pen-casing is intended to better represent the performance quality of the designers’ favorite plastic pens, hi-tec-c, x-acto and uni-ball singo ink. the stainless steel body is compatible with these cartridges from these brands and in addition to encasing the pen’s ink, features a hobby knife detail on the opposite end from the pen. the ruler, which also functions as the top of the bamboo case, is characterized by seven different measurement systems on just one device.
