'intergralus' digital watch by art, lebedev

moscow-based design studio art, lebedev has created the 'intergralus' digital watch.
the aluminum face of the timepiece is formed by two segments-- one for minutes and another for hours,
each equipped with a battery of its own. these two parts join together to fasten the watch around the wearer's wrist.
'intergralus' wrist strap is fashioned from elastic and exists in three sizes, using spring shafts to connect each segment to the watch face.

the face of the timepiece may be detached from a wrist band in order join one of the other sized wrist bands

selection of colors art, lebedev has implemented for the timepiece

Where, When, will these be available for purchase?

Two batteries with independent displays will make for some interesting time sequences: 10:58, 10:59, 10:00, 11:01, 11:02...

Great piece of art !! Want one
Diane   12.01.11
i dont get the "brilliant" idea or the "art piece" of it? why? what is the idea? the same connection method is alredy used in other clocks, and to split the clock in two pieces is just wierd imo
nick   12.02.11
another "trying to solve non existing problem" design. sry but this is so bad.
gonsalez   12.02.11
how do i get one?
simeon   12.02.11
To the naysayers, there does appear to be a contact between the two sections, as visible in the first image, for connection of power and synchronisation.

However i do agree that if there are the problems which people have suggested then it's all a bit silly isn't it. Style over substance? you'll have to give me one to test so i can find out i suppose...

The only thing that could validate this design would be if the display (not the clock itself, just the display) would operate when the two parts are connected - saving battery when the watch is not worn - but that said this could be achieved is much more elegant, simple and responsible ways.

As it stands this is fluff.

indeed solving a problem that doesn't exist.
why using two parts when the band is elastic?
you don't even have to open it to put it on!!!
