claesson koivisto rune: isola work chair for tacchini

as a response to the public use of portable devices, swedish design partnership claesson koivisto rune has created 'isola' for
italian furniture company tacchini. the lounge chair takes into account the modern lifestyle, and how the use of laptops
and tablets changes the posture of the user. the relaxed positions prompted the organic, larger form. the armchair integrates
an oval tabletop into the shell, encouraging a more intuitive use. 

the integrated surface and seating object will be on show at maison et objet 2012 in paris.

built from 2208 individual loose 3D printed nylon plastic parts, the precision distances between the links result in a final object that is soft, and can almost be described as having the feel of a textile fabric.
