max lipsey: acciaio series 2

'acciaio series 2' by max lipsey for matter
during maison et objet 2012, designboom visited paris's gallery s. bensimon to get an up close look at 'acciaio series 2',
the latest work by american-born netherlands-based designer max lipsey. developed for new york-based contemporary design store matter,
the collection derives its name ('acciaio' means steel in italian) from the most important elements of the pieces -
the frame of each table, chair, lamp, storage unit is constructed from lightweight steel tubing, with italy being the country
who produces the most sought after version of bicycle steel. the series of one-off furniture pieces continue this theme,
their geometric forms drawing from the shape of classic racing bikes.
