'clamshell carstand' by ballistic architecture machine (BAM)
the 'clamshell carstand' by beijing-based design studio ballistic architecture machine (BAM)
provides a temporary exhibition structure for the showcasing of cars. loosely modeled after the clamshell
showcasing botticelli's venus, the stand is composed of CNC-cut bamboo plywood, finished in matte purple
paint on its exterior, and featuring a mirrored stainless steel interior lit by recessed cold cathode tubes.
'in china, people love cars,' the designers add; 'beijing alone is adding cars at a rate of 2,000 new vehicles
on the road per day. [the 'clamshell carstand'] celebrates beijing's burgeoning custom car culture.'
