PSB insoles by damian o’sullivan for PSB shoe insoles

each day, you take somewhere between 8,000 and 10,000 steps which is why you must take care of your feet. british born franco-irish designer damian o’sullivan along with lisa o’sullivan and emmy van gool, in collaboration with dutch company PSB shoe insoles (lysan wolf from neea international, maastricht, owner of the PSB brand) have developed four new insoles: fitting, cooling, warming and supportive shoe inserts all made from 100% natural, biodegradable materials. each one is comprised of a top and base layer which are stitched together, rather than glued, using tencel lyocell yarn. all of the insoles are washable up to 30 degrees C.

four different types of insoles:

cooling: produced from a combination of cashmere goat hair, natural rubber and organic cotton, this insole is designed to keep your feet dry and fresh. the hollow structure of the goat hair absorbs and carries off moisture, while natural rubber adds sturdiness.

fitting: this insole reduces a shoe’s volume. it is made from portuguese cork that is harvested every 7 years. the material is compressed into blocks and subsequently sheets which gives it a particular resilience, while still feeling comfortable. the top layer is made from organic cotton and hemp.

warming: the top cover of this shoe insert is made from merino wool, the base layer is made-up of insulating wool felt that protects against rising cold. the wool fleece top is light and retains heat warming your feet and providing a pleasant thermal comfort. an anti-skid layer keeps the insole firmly in place within the shoe.

supporting: offering arch support and stabilizing one’s heel, these insoles are made of natural coconut fibres from sri lanka, along with natural rubber and organic cotton which gives it good damping and stabilizing properties.

the product’s packaging is simply composed of a high-quality card which features finely cut ribbons in which the insoles are sandwiched. to further reduce the ecological footprint, ink has been reduced to a minimum, the logo has been embossed and there is no plastic wrap.
