fabio novembre: happy pills vases for venini

'happy pills' by fabio novembre
from left to right: 'testosterone', 'adrenalina', 'ossitocina', 'feniletilamina', estrogeno'

italian designer fabio novembre has created stacked vases for renowned italian glass manufacturer venini.
made of world-famous murano glass, the containers are in the form of pharmaceutical drugs, with faint chemical compositions written on each.
each color combination represents a different hormone, testosterone, adrenaline, oxytocin, phenethylamine and estrogen.
the placebo is meant to take the place of medication, with the philosophy that playful design has the same hormonal effects as 'happy pills'.

to create the vases, the incalmo glass technique is used -- different sections of blown glass are placed one on the other.
after the first piece is made, the second must be placed directly on the edge, fitting perfectly so there is no overlap.
the vessels will be on display during milan design week 2012.

Not entirely new, we have the well known Pilola Lamp; Jonathan Adler created the Pill Carafe... the concept has already been explored over and over again. Truthfully, what's entirely new nowadays?
I really like the chemical composition detail, and being the product made of murano glass it reaches an entirely different level. Highly sellable, as expected from Fabio. Hope I'll get to see them at ISaloni 2012
