artists re-imagine the olpc

the 'one laptop per child' project recently launched the final yves behar-designed version of their laptop to the
public. they are currently running a 'give one, get one' promotion that would enable people to buy two laptops for
400 USD, keeping one for themselves and donating one to a child in a developing country.

to celebrate the recent launch, luminaire, design miami and yves behar have invited seven notable visual artists
to treat the laptop as a blank canvas. the artists include david altmejd, john baldessari, olafur eliasson,
catherine opie, ugo rondinone, cindy sherman and richard tuttle. each one will be showcasing their custom
re-interpretation of the olpc laptop at design miami from december 6-9, 2007. the laptop art will then be auctioned
off online to raise money for the project.
