jewelry design by stephanie simek

stephanie simek is an artist and designer based in portland oregon. her jewelry work makes use of interesting
objects that are not typically thought of as precious materials. 'eyelashes' is a series of necklaces that use
100% human hair to makes a minimal piece of jewelry that is as light and fluttery as the real thing. her new piece
consists of a resin-coated japanese quail egg that is coated with 23k gold on the inside, making it appear to glow.
in both cases she transforms unusual objects, giving them a precious jewel like quality.
