animated pedestrian crossing lights

animated pedestrian crossing lights

when designboom were in mexico city recently, we came across these elaborate
pedestrian crossing lights. the LED displays show a timer along with a green man
that is not only animated but runs faster as the timer counts down.

a couple of years back there was some debate over which country / city had
the animated lights first.

nice idea, it worked great andy, good info, what else can you tell us about Mexico?

Hey I live in Monterrey, Mexico and it's the same, but the man is made out of white leds. Also it makes a sound each second for the blind people (the sound is annoying, like an ill bird).

I first saw them in Morelia Michoacan. I said, wow.. this is cool. It's a new, fun and creative way of making common things we do an see everyday. It made me smile...and more aware of traffic.
