‘otto watt’ by alberto meda and paolo rizzatto

images © alberto meda + paolo rizzatoitalian designers alberto meda and paolo rizzatto have conceived an energy efficient desk lamp using advanced phillips eight-watt LEDs. the ‘otto watt’ is influenced by the long life span of such technology, where an aluminum head incorporated to help promote heat dissipation while still serving as a handle for directing the light as needed. the lamp has the ability to produce an optimal illumination quality which can be regulated in both intensity and color temperature by a simple rotation of the diffuser, changing the output from cold to warm hues. focus on reducing the amount of volume and material results in a unique formal complexity, where minimal visual impact is achieved.
in order to facilitate recycling and disassembly, cast aluminum is used for the arms, where the head, joints and base are all pressure injected.
