gradient mashrabiya table by mischer’traxler

commissioned by carwan gallery, vienna-based studio mischer’traxler has colllaborated with an expert lebanese woodworker to re-define the constructive system of the traditional mashrabiyas – delicate wooden window screens often found in middle eastern architecture. by lathing 650 small oak components, the sideboard table showcases a highly crafted gradient of rectangular slats of refined decorative elements. from this, the project exposes the intricate detaling involved in the production process with a complex network of unique wooden sections.
