producks’ printed textile pattern results in 3D fabric ‘poli lounge chair’ by producks

exploring new ways to combine the production of textiles with industrial design, israeli studio producks (yoav avinoam and gil sheffi) has developed a cloth material which features a printed pattern that dictates how two-dimensional fabric can become something that is more  three-dimensional and sculptural in its appearance.

the first application is the ‘poli lounge chair’ a result of a collaboration with textile designer mika barr. it uses one spread of the material over its seat, back and armrest eliminating the need to meticulously fold it so that it lays flat. in this way the upholstery has a more active role in the final form of the chair, the geometric, faceted appearance of ‘poli’ transforms into a comfortable place to rest once sat upon.
