‘monika’ OMI pendant lamp by naomi paul

sustainability and sourcing local materials is a key part in naomi paul‘s creative process. the british textile and product designer’s ‘OMI’ pendant collection is a series of lamps developed using surplus material – typically from the fashion industry – sourcing mercerized cotton and silk which she crochets by hand to form each one. ‘OMI’ pendants are available in limited edition color ways, making them interchangeable according to the seasons. each one is outfitted with a plumen low energy lightbulb by hulger (which designboom covered here) along with a woven fabric cable and bakelite fittings.

the original ‘OMI’ pendant collection was comprised of ‘glück’, ‘sonne’ and ‘hanna’, all flat pack designs which offer modern yet sculptural focal points within any space. now ‘monika’, a large-scale chandelier with multi-bulb fittings, also available in XL size editions joins the others.
