That make me think that money can't buy talent or intellingence. I predict that those kind of -wanabe- designer will be common in the next decade. We don't sell design anymore, we sell a name. This is really the product of our pop, cheap, bling bling, no background culture. Hey Pharrel, ask you this question : why do i do things? If the anwser is : because it's cool. Its an insult to designers! To design! Show respect for design like any art form. If you want to do something valueable with your money support young designers and artists produce their own work. Fund the arts council set up workshops...

in the place where i come from, a lawyer can turn into a designer when he got bored with his high paid uninspired job, a banker is turning into a designer when he feels he saved up enough money from his 9-5 job to start a high end fully equipped design studio,
but a designer can not just merely turns into a lawyer when he needs extra cash.
sometimes, this makes me sick and tired to see that being a designer is just an alternative pleasure and no one really bother to understand how big is a challenge to be a real problem solving designer..
anyway, when do we think philipp starck goes to hollywood or ron arad sign up to play a role in a movie.. the closest a designer can get is to make props.. well, at least karim rashid is a DJ...
