portrait silhouette revisted by philippe cramer and caroline vitelli

designer philippe cramer began a new series of work in 2008 collaborating with artist caroline vitelli. as artist
and designer the two set out to merge their disciplines as they revisited 18th century portrait silhouettes.
vitelli reinterpreted the idea by depicting the faces in modern ways, blowing bubble gum or smoking a cigarette,
while cramer transformed these concepts into objects, such as vases and pendants. the new collection is
a unusual blend of old and new, and in the spirit of the silhouette portrait they are opening up the idea by
accepting commissions. the consumer can not only buy a piece, but they can also be the subject.
